Project summary (crowdlending loan):

Partial financing of the investments necessary for the opening to the public of the new "Synergym Barcelona-Pl. Cosmos" gym and, more specifically, the renovation of the premises' air conditioning and ventilation installations.

Through this new crowdlending campaign in Ecrowd, Synergym will be able to further diversify its sources of financing, while renewing its commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility.




Meet Synergym:

Synergym is a gyms chain based in Málaga (Spain) and British owned. Its business development and human capital is entirely Spanish, and it has brought to Spain a new concept in the fitness industry. Its expansion plan is aimed at being the largest fitness network of mid-size gyms in Spain, with a forecast of reaching 200 gyms by 2025.

The Synergym gym chain has already raised six crowdlending loans in Ecrowd, which were used to open new fitness centers, and whose loan installments are being paid regularly. In 2020, despite the fact that the Spanish state of alarm for the Covid-19 had the gyms closed for three months, and with restrictions for 6 more months, the company was able to maintain 91% of its turnover, contain expenses and obtain a positive EBITDA, at the same time time that continued to open new centers.

"Sustainability is integral to every project we build. We always strive to be energy efficient, reduce water consumption and eliminate unnecessary waste. At the beginning of every project, we plan to maximize the potential for sustainability in all areas.

As most of our projects are interior refurbishment of existing buildings, we save valuable construction resources and endeavor to be as sustainable as possible in our choice of materials.  We make sure to insulate efficiently with no thermal bridging so there is no need to overuse energy. The insulation we choose, rock wool, is both durable and sustainable. It is important to consider energy consumption within the realms of lighting, ventilation and heating at early stages of design. Using technology to monitor the air quality in and out of the building, fresh air is filtered inside when needed, simultaneously recovering heat and water from the atmosphere and keeping the environment healthy.

In terms of cooling, air conditioning is used throughout the building to keep optimum thermal comfort. We took advantage of the residual heat generated by the system through heat recovery, which in turns contribute to water heating. This ultimately reduces energy consumption from the boiler and creates a cleaner way to run the gym’s facilities.

Water consumption is an important issue to consider in fitness facilities. We choose taps designed to counter excessive water flow, so there is less wasted water in the bathrooms. This saving can be passed on to the residents, as well as other sustainable measures.

We use low energy LED lighting in every area of the building, while maximizing natural daylighting wherever possible. Also, automated sensory lighting is used, enabling us to save both energy and cost.

Always aware of the importance of comfort, acoustic analysis is inherent in our projects and a very important concern. A fitness environment requires extra attention in this area, so we have taken great care in the design of each exercise facility. There are different environments for different practices of exercise, so it is essential to recognize the diversity in acoustic.  Every area of the gym is catered for with appropriate sound insulation and shock absorbers for machines and music, so everyone can enjoy their own style of fitness.

Finally, we pay special attention to the recycling of construction waste. The containers are transported to accredited warehouses and separated by different classes, so that it can be ensured that the design and construction process of Synergym is a model of environmental sustainability in all respects".

This collective loan has the unlimited personal guarantee of the applicant company, SYNERGYM HOLDING SL, and additionally with the joint and several consolidation of the company of the same group SYNERGYM MIJAS COSTA SL.
